Unless you are present when your loved one passes, the next of kin and relatives will be notified by the nursing staff as soon as possible. You can then make contact with us and we will liaise with the Hospital Administrative staff to deal with the formalities. This will include collection the Medical Certificate which outlines the Cause of Death (issued by a Doctor ) and the personal possessions of your loved one.

Unexpected death

In the event that the death is sudden or unexpected, the police will need to attend, they will coordinate the removal of the remains, on behalf of the procurator fiscal, to the mortuary. The procurator fiscal will be informed and the requirement for a pathologist to undertake a post mortem assessment will need to be carried out according to Ministry of Justice guidelines.
